GOMTUU |
An ancient telphatic space creature that formed structures to allow a humanoid crew travelling within its body. Gomtuus age is estimated to be more than 10.000 years and it's probably born in space.
By the time starfleet discovers it, the lonesome creature is located in the Beta Stromgren system at the border to the Romulan Empire. The crew of the Enterprise (NCC-1701-D) stops exosphere cartographies of planets in the Hayashi system and meets with starship USS Hood to take the telephatic specialist betazoid Tam Elbrun on board. Tam has already begun to contact the creature within reach and recognizes that it is willing to die in the vicinity of that star that is on the verge to explode in a supernova. Approaching Romulan starships get to notice Gomtuus well-fortified shock wave capability. During the examination of the interior of Gomtuu, Tam Elbrun and Data spot its organic structures inside. The betazoid decides to stay with the creature and to live with it in symbiosis. So Gomtuu may feel less lonely and Tam resides in pleasant companionship.
