1966 started Star Trek (the original series) this long living science fiction universe. Though not estimated to to carry much potential there are six Trek series till now, including "Discovery" (2017) and another animated series (1973). The shows from the 1990s have been most successfull when three of them finished 7 seasons. "The next generation" even jumped into cinemas with three motion pictures.

Which series is the best, that question it is well discussed. Deep Space Nine offers an especially intricate and filicitous story arc with enigmatic characters, Voyager shines in its dark stories on the trip back to earth, the next generation broadens the nostalgic basis with delicate plots and a great captain Picard. Enterprise was able to deliver endearing stories in pioneers times too, though it ended untimely. What interesting new stuff may Discovery show us now? September 2017 will tell.
